Make One (M1)

make1 stitch

The M1 is an invisible increase stitch worked with a left or right slant. The right slant is usually used on the left side of the loom and the left slant on the right. To keep a hole from formed, this increase stitch is twisted when it is knit. Because this increase is formed between two stitches, it is not included in the stitch count. Caveat: European pattern instructions that call for an M1 often mean the American "increase" whereas others use it as a method of increasing.
